At 14.1% alcohol, the 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is the most powerful wine in the cellar, offering up aromas of cherries, plums, potpourri, orange rind and spices, followed by a full-bodied, rich and layered palate that's textural and muscular.

The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has impressive purity and vigor on the nose: black cherries and boysenberry fruit, slightly glossy in style, perhaps a bit of summer sun imparting more opulence. The palate is medium-bodied with blackberry and bilberry fruit and saturated tannins. It's harmonious, though it needs a little more mineralitetoward the finish. There's a soupcon of hedonism and warmth here...there's nothing wrong with that.
